Optical Laboratory Technician


Duties and responsibilities: optical lab technicians make lenses for prescription glasses or create prescription contact lenses. Sometimes they create lenses for binoculars, microscopes, and telescopes. This position relies on computer equipment and automated tools to make the lenses. The final product is always examined by an optical lab technician before it is sent off to the customer.

Salary: $ 11 dollars per hour

Education: you must have good eye for detail, you also need really good computer skills. you don’t need a certificate but it’s recommended for more opportunities to be hired.

Reflection: I think I would like to become a Optical laboratory technician because it doesn’t seem like you need to go to school for a long time but I don’t have good eye vision.
